In the early morning hours of Saturday, May 30, 2015, a burst of gunfire shattered the pre-dawn quiet in a courtyard of the Queensbridge Houses in Long Island City, Queens. When the chaos subsided, 23-year-old Jahhad Marshal, an aspiring chef, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to his back. Two other individuals, an 18-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, were also struck by bullets but survived their injuries.
