In the early morning hours of April 29, 2024, the life of 27-year-old Temel Phillips of Queens Village was tragically cut short. A Black male, Phillips was fatally shot outside the Caribbean Fest Lounge on Rockaway Boulevard in South Ozone Park. The incident occurred around 1:04 a.m., when police from the 106th Precinct responded to a call of a man shot. Upon arrival, they discovered Phillips with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and body.
Emergency services rushed him to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
Investigators at the scene recovered six shell casings, painting a grim picture of the violence that had unfolded. While the motive for the shooting remains unclear, the New York Police Department has been actively seeking information from the public to piece together the events that led to Phillips' death. The investigation into this homicide is ongoing, with detectives from the 106th Precinct leading the inquiry. So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
In their efforts to find the person responsible, the NYPD has released a description of a suspect. He is described as a man with a thin build who was last seen wearing a white New York Rangers jersey, blue jeans, black shoes, and a blue face mask. Authorities have also made surveillance images of the individual public in the hopes that someone will recognize him and come forward. A reward has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Temel Phillips.
