In the early morning hours of February 9, 2025, the life of 53-year-old Elizabeth Nam, a woman believed to be of Korean descent, was tragically cut short in a Las Vegas residence. Responding to a distress call, police arrived at a home on Aspen Shadow Street to find Nam with a fatal gunshot wound. The call to 911 was made by the man who admitted to shooting her, 50-year-old Paul Moore.
The tragic event unfolded from a relationship that had begun just a month prior.
Moore and Nam had connected through the dating application Bumble, and she had recently moved into his home. On the night of the incident, a heated argument between the two escalated into a physical altercation. A roommate in the house reported hearing what sounded like a physical struggle, followed by a loud bang and then a sudden, chilling silence.
Following the shooting, Moore himself contacted the authorities, stating that he had felt threatened during the fight and had resorted to using a gun. When police arrived, they found both individuals with visible injuries. Moore had a swollen lip, scratches on his knees, and cuts on his thumbs. He claimed that Nam had bitten him, and he had bitten her in return. Elizabeth Nam was found with multiple injuries, including scratches on her nose and forearm, a cut on her chin, and an abrasion on her head, in addition to the gunshot wound to her back that ended her life.
Investigators noted that Moore appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the scene. He was taken into custody and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of open murder. Paul Moore was held without bail pending his court appearance. The incident left those who knew the couple shocked and highlighted the potential dangers of domestic disputes escalating to deadly violence.
