In the quiet of a Sunday evening in Terry, Mississippi, a domestic call for service set in motion a tragic chain of events that would end with the death of a dedicated law enforcement officer. Hinds County Sheriff's Deputy Martin Shields Jr., a 37-year-old man, was on duty on February 23, 2025, when he and another deputy responded to a residence on Midway Road. A woman had called for assistance to retrieve her personal belongings from the home.
