In the early morning hours of March 27, 2025, the life of 23-year-old NaOnche Osborne was cut short in a fatal shooting at the Aliante Casino in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Osborne, a Black / African American male, was the adopted son of former Nevada State Senator Pat Spearman. His death, which was later ruled a homicide by the Clark County coroner's office, was the result of multiple gunshot wounds.

The incident unfolded around 4:30 a.m. inside the casino, located in the 7300 block of North Aliante Boulevard. Following the shooting, a chaotic and dangerous chain of events ensued across the Las Vegas Valley. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Aerion Warmsley, allegedly fled the scene, embarking on a crime spree that included at least three carjackings and a high-speed police chase with speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed into a bus stop, causing critical injuries to one person before being apprehended.

Warmsley was taken into custody and is facing charges of open murder and robbery with a deadly weapon. He is being held without bail at the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center. Investigators revealed that the homicide may have been preceded by a domestic incident the day before, in which Warmsley allegedly sent a threatening text message to a woman, asking if she "wanted to die."

This was not the first time the Spearman family had been impacted by gun violence. In October 2022, NaOnche Osborne himself had been arrested for shooting and wounding his cousin inside his mother's home. He later pleaded guilty to felony charges of battery with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed firearm. Former Senator Spearman had adopted Osborne as a teenager, hoping to provide him with a better life. In a statement following her son's death, a family spokesperson expressed their profound sadness and heartbreak over the "unimaginable loss."
