In the late hours of a Monday night in Amory, Mississippi, the sound of multiple gunshots shattered the peace on Concord Avenue. When police arrived at the 1300 block of the street on March 17, 2025, they discovered 19-year-old Jayden Zyshawn Blanchard lying unresponsive in a front yard. The young man, a male known affectionately as 'Jay,' had sustained several gunshot wounds.
First responders administered aid at the scene before he was rushed to the North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory, but his injuries proved fatal.
As authorities processed the scene of the shooting, an officer encountered another man who matched the description of the potential suspect. This individual was identified as 19-year-old Denzarious Devon Wren. Wren, who also had a gunshot wound, was taken into custody without incident. Near the scene, investigators recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the fatal shooting. Police later described the event as a targeted and isolated incident between Wren and Blanchard.
The investigation soon revealed that this was not Wren's first encounter with law enforcement for violent behavior in that same area. At the time of Blanchard's death, Wren was already out on a $150,000 bond for a different shooting that had occurred on the same block of Concord Avenue just months prior, in December 2024. Following the death of Jayden Blanchard, Denzarious Wren was charged with Second Degree Murder. A Justice Court Judge denied him bond in this case, ensuring he would remain in the Monroe County Jail.
