On the evening of Friday, March 28, 2025, a fatal shooting occurred in Yazoo City, Mississippi, resulting in the death of 29-year-old African American male Dontavious Weekly. The incident took place around 6:52 p.m. on Chapman Street, where a group of adults was engaged in a basketball game. An argument escalated, leading to gunfire that claimed Weekly's life and injured another individual, who was transported to Baptist Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
