On a Saturday morning in Greenville, Mississippi, the sound of gunfire shattered the peace in the 900 block of North Theobald Street. When police responded to the calls on April 19, 2025, they discovered the body of 42-year-old Reginald Nash, a Black male, lying near the roadway. Emergency responders pronounced him deceased at the scene. His body was subsequently sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
The initial investigation into the fatal
shooting yielded no immediate suspects, prompting law enforcement to ask the public for any information that could lead to an arrest. For weeks, the case remained under active investigation as authorities worked to piece together the events that led to Nash's death. The community was left seeking answers, with a reward of up to $2,000 offered for information that could help solve the case.
Nearly two months after the shooting, the Greenville Police Department announced a significant development in the case. On June 12, 2025, authorities confirmed the arrest of 33-year-old Jamarcus Davis, also a resident of Greenville. Following an investigation that was aided by the results of the autopsy, a warrant was issued for Davis, who was subsequently taken into custody. He has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of Reginald Nash. While an arrest has been made, authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive for the shooting.
