In the late hours of a Thursday night in Greenville, Mississippi, tragedy struck 25-year-old Elijah Sawyer. On September 27, 2018, Sawyer was in the 500 block of North 6th Street when a black SUV approached. Gunshots erupted from the vehicle, fatally wounding him and injuring a 22-year-old man who was with him.
