On a Friday night in Greenville, Mississippi, the life of 20-year-old Jerrian 'Stank' King was cut short by gunfire. The fatal shooting occurred on October 25, 2024, in the 1300 block of St. Mary Circle. Around 10:40 p.m., officers from the Greenville Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and found King lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. King was a former football player at St. Joe and had aspirations of joining the Alcorn State University football team as a walk-on.
The investigation into King's murder led to the identification of several suspects. Five days after the shooting, a murder warrant was issued for 18-year-old Tony Lott. Believing Lott had fled the area, the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force adopted the case. Their investigation led them to Memphis, Tennessee, where on December 5, 2024, Lott was located at an apartment and taken into custody without incident by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Team. He was held at the Shelby County Detention Center to await extradition back to Mississippi.
Further investigation by the Greenville Police Department led to two additional arrests in January 2025. Jykeiivin Harris, 21, was arrested following a Crime Stopper's tip on January 14th at a location on the same block where the murder occurred. Mactarja Winder, 29, was also taken into custody. Both Lott and Harris have been charged with murder and gang activity. Winder was charged with felony harboring of a fugitive. Lott's bond was set at $1.2 million. Harris and Winder were scheduled for their initial court appearances the week following their arrests.
