On the evening of February 18, 2025, a sense of unease settled over a residential neighborhood in the unincorporated section of Laurel, Maryland. At approximately 9:15 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the night, prompting calls to the Prince George's County Police Department. When officers arrived at the 11600 block of South Laurel Drive, they discovered the body of 17-year-old Jeferson Giron Cabrera of College Park.
