In the late afternoon of Friday, January 31, 2025, a sense of tragedy befell a Saginaw, Michigan community. Jordan Jamilleon Morris, a 17-year-old Black male, was fatally wounded in a shooting incident that also left another 17-year-old male in critical condition. The two teenagers were transported by a private vehicle to Covenant Hospital's emergency room, where Morris ultimately succumbed to his injuries, marking the city's second homicide of the year.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under active investigation by the Saginaw Police Department. At the time of the incident, authorities had not yet released any information regarding a potential suspect or the motive behind the tragic event. A few days after Morris's death, another shooting occurred in the city that may be connected. A 25-year-old man, Brandon Williams, was arrested in connection with a shooting at a house on the city's east side. Williams reportedly told police that the shooting was in retaliation for his younger brother's murder. It is not publicly known if his statement was in reference to Jordan Morris's death. Another individual, a 17-year-old, was also arrested in connection with this second shooting. Authorities are also searching for a third person of interest, 25-year-old James Ays. The investigation into whether the two shootings are related is still ongoing.
