On a cold January evening in Minneapolis, the life of a young Black/African American man, Bobby Glenn Hawkins, age 21, was tragically cut short. The first homicide of the new year in the city unfolded on the evening of January 3, 2025. Around 6:20 p.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the air in the 3200 block of Fremont Avenue North, triggering a ShotSpotter notification that dispatched Minneapolis police officers to the scene.
