On the evening of May 5, 2025, 34-year-old Christopher Skinner, a white male from Gulfport, Mississippi, was fatally shot during a violent altercation outside Azteca’s Restaurant & Cantina on Highway 49. The incident occurred around 9:36 p.m. during Cinco de Mayo celebrations, when an argument between Skinner and 25-year-old Jordan Tyrik Johnson escalated into gunfire.
