Authorities responded to the incident at approximately 9:30 a.m. on the 2700 block of 14th Street South, where Hamilton was found suffering from gunshot injuries.

Law enforcement swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the identification of a suspect, 35-year-old Jerome Anthony Thomas III. Authorities described Thomas as armed and dangerous.
