On July 24, 2024, 37-year-old Franky Esquivel Torres of Moorhead, Minnesota, was fatally shot. Officers responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 3:20 a.m. in the 900 block of 18th Street South found Torres with a critical head injury. He was transported to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, where he later died from his injuries.
