In the pre-dawn quiet of August 16, 2025, Moorhead officers were dispatched at 3:54 a.m. to an apartment building in the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue South after reports of gunfire. Inside, they found two people dead from gunshot wounds: 21-year-old Camilo Acosta, and 53-year-old Nancy Acosta. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
