Eugene Collin Cooper, a 29-year-old male, was killed by gun violence in the Central City neighborhood. Born on March 7, 1996, in the very city where he would later lose his life, Cooper was a graduate of Warren Easton Senior High School and had earned a degree from Nunez Community College in 2020.
He was an employee at Walgreens, working as a sales associate.
The circumstances surrounding his death pointed to a violent end. Reports indicated that Cooper was one of two individuals killed in separate shootings that week. In the immediate aftermath of the incident that claimed his life, a person was detained by authorities in connection with the Central City shooting. The New Orleans coroner's office later officially identified Eugene Collin Cooper as a victim of homicide.
He left behind a grieving family, including his parents, two children, two brothers, and a sister. A celebration of his life was held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home, followed by his interment at Providence Memorial Park in Metairie.
