In the spring of 2025, a young woman's life was cut short in Bossier City, Louisiana. Twenty-year-old Amyah Kyanique West was fatally shot on March 26, 2025, in a residence located on the 1400 block of Beverly Street. The incident, which authorities believe stemmed from a domestic dispute, resulted in her being transported to Ochsner LSU Medical Center, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
Following an investigation into the shooting, police identified 21-year-old La'Anthony
Malik Jeter as the suspect. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder. A bond was set at $600,000, and he was booked into the Bossier Max jail.
The community mourned the loss of Amyah West, with friends and family gathering for a visitation and a celebration of her life at Bossier Baptist Church. She was laid to rest in the Roseneath Memorial Cemetery in Bossier City. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting remains ongoing as the legal process against the accused proceeds.
