On the evening of May 11, 2025, in the quiet suburb of Mounds View, near St. Paul, Minnesota, the life of 48-year-old Aaron Winfield Johnson came to a tragic end. The events of that day unfolded inside a residence on Greenwood Drive, where Johnson, a man known for his friendly and outgoing personality, was visiting an acquaintance. Concern first arose when a request for a welfare check was made to the Mounds View Police Department.
Upon their arrival at the home of 50-year-old Robert Eugene Bostic, officers peered through a window and saw a disturbing scene. An individual was lying on the floor with visible signs of trauma, prompting the officers to force entry into the home. Inside, they made a grim discovery: the bodies of both Aaron Winfield Johnson and Robert Eugene Bostic. A handgun was also found at the scene, hinting at the violent nature of the incident.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed the tragic details. Aaron Winfield Johnson had died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was officially ruled a homicide. Robert Eugene Bostic's death was determined to be a suicide, caused by a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation, carried out by the Mounds View Police Department with the assistance of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, concluded that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide. While the two men were known to be acquaintances, the motive behind Bostic's actions remains unclear.
