On the evening of Valentine's Day, what began as a response to a medical emergency unfolded into a homicide investigation in Owensboro, Kentucky. Authorities were called to the parking lot of a liquor store on West 9th Street shortly before 11 p.m. for a report of a man in cardiac arrest. First responders arrived to find 44-year-old Patrick Wilson on the ground and immediately began life-saving measures.
It was during these efforts that they made a grim discovery: Wilson had sustained a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly launched a criminal inquiry into the shooting death of the male victim. Patrol officers were able to secure a description of a potential suspect and began to canvass the area.
