In the late afternoon of March 12, 2025, tragedy struck in east Louisville when 19-year-old Quincy Coleman was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. in the 3800 block of Riveroaks Circle. When officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Coleman with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the location.
The investigation into the death of the young male was handled by the LMPD's Homicide Unit.
Initially, there were no known suspects, and the police appealed to the public for any information regarding the case. A week after the shooting, a significant development occurred when 22-year-old Terry Matthews turned himself in to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at the Hall of Justice around 5:40 p.m.
Matthews was subsequently charged with murder and wanton endangerment in connection with Quincy Coleman's death. According to an arrest report, the shooting happened after a verbal argument escalated. It was revealed that Coleman and Matthews' sister had a child together, and she, along with her child and their mother, were present in the home at the time of the incident. Following his surrender, a judge entered a not guilty plea for Matthews and his bond was set at $100,000.
