Jamia Taylor, a 29-year-old African American woman, was fatally shot in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood on February 9, 2025. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 5:25 a.m., when officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1800 block of East 79th Street. Upon arrival, police discovered Taylor unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest.
