In the early morning hours of Sunday, March 30, 2025, the community of Monticello, Kentucky, was disturbed by a grim discovery. Berry Rainer Rose III, a 46-year-old male, was found deceased outside a residence on Cart Bell Ridge Road. An apparent gunshot wound was the cause of his untimely death. The Wayne County 911 dispatch received the call and immediately involved the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, who, upon observing signs of foul play, requested the assistance of the Kentucky State
Police.
As the investigation unfolded, it was determined that Rose, an Albany, Kentucky resident who worked in the heating and cooling industry, had been the victim of a homicide. Born on May 25, 1978, in North Carolina, he was known to be of the Christian faith. His sudden and violent death sent ripples of shock and sorrow through his family and friends. He was survived by his sister, Jennifer Heist, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The Kentucky State Police Post 11 took charge of the murder investigation, which quickly led to a suspect. Norman E. McGuire, a 60-year-old resident of Monticello, was arrested and charged with the murder of Berry Rainer Rose III. McGuire was subsequently lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center as the investigation continued. The case is being handled by the Kentucky State Police, who are working to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting on that quiet Sunday morning in the Parnell community of Wayne County.
