Calvin Bell, a 47-year-old man from Springfield, Illinois, was fatally shot on March 8, 2025. Authorities responded to reports of a large fight in the 800 block of Stevenson Drive around 2:03 a.m., during which gunshots were heard. Emergency responders transported Bell to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m. An autopsy later confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound.
