Just before midnight on March 9, 2025, a call of shots fired drew officers to the 7600 block of South Langley Avenue on Chicago's South Side.
There, police found Keymani A. Davis, a 25-year-old Black male, shot multiple times on the street near 76th and Langley.
He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where the 25-year-old male was pronounced dead, his name was formally released as Keymani A. Davis in the hours that followed.
Accounts located the killing on the line between Greater Grand Crossing and Chatham, a quiet late. Sunday stretch suddenly washed in blue lights and the measured movements of detectives.
The scene description fixed the geography—Langley and 76th, the 7600 block, and the victim's identity, repeating that Keymani A. Davis was struck by multiple rounds before first responders could reach him.
Detectives from Area Two opened a homicide investigation, but there were no arrests announced in the immediate aftermath.
