Bernabe "Kiko" Rodriguez, a 41-year-old male, tragically lost his life in a fatal shooting on February 19, 2025, in Lighthouse Point, Florida. The incident occurred at approximately 5:13 p.m. in the 2600 block of Northeast 49th Street. Authorities responded to a domestic disturbance call where shots had been fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered Rodriguez suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders transported him to Broward Health North for treatment, but he was later pronounced deceased.

Rodriguez, a father and barber, had previously filed a petition for a restraining order against his ex-girlfriend, Shelbie Hawk, alleging that she had held him at gunpoint. The petition, filed 28 days before his death, detailed multiple armed felonies and noted that Hawk owned three firearms. Despite this, law enforcement did not seize her weapons. On the day of the shooting, Hawk remained at the scene and was detained for questioning but was later released. Authorities have not charged her with a crime, and the case has been sent to the Broward County State Attorney's Office for review.

Records indicate that police had responded to the residence multiple times over the past two years for various incidents, including reports of harassment and vandalism. However, officials clarified that Rodriguez was not involved in those previous cases. The investigation into his death remains ongoing, with detectives continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Rodriguez’s family, represented by attorney William DiPetrillo, has expressed frustration with the legal system, believing that his death could have been prevented had authorities acted on his restraining order request. His son has publicly called for justice in the case.
