On April 10, 2025, Derrick Golliday, a 35-year-old Black man, was fatally shot in Washington Park, Illinois. The incident occurred around 12:50 a.m. in the 1200 block of North 53rd Street. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene at 2:13 a.m. St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. confirmed his identity and noted that Golliday appeared to have been unhoused at the time of his death.
