On November 19, 2022, Johnny R. McCline, a 13-year-old African American boy from Washington Park, Illinois, tragically lost his life in a drive-by shooting. Johnny was a seventh grader at Mason-Clark Middle School in East St. Louis. The incident occurred in the Washington Park community of St. Clair County, where Johnny and three other teens were targeted. While Johnny succumbed to his injuries, the other three teens survived, albeit with injuries.
