In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Indianapolis, the life of 32-year-old Andre Dwayne Canady Jr. was tragically cut short. On March 23, 2025, just before 5 a.m., police responded to a call in the 300 block of North Arsenal Avenue on the city's near east side. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Mr. Canady on the front porch of a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation into the shooting suggested an isolated incident. Officers at the scene detained a person of interest, a 30-year-old man who was also on the porch when they arrived.
