Herman Jones III, a 34-year-old African American man from Decatur, Illinois, tragically lost his life on April 12, 2025. The incident occurred on a Saturday night near the intersection of North Church Street and West Leafland Avenue in Decatur. Authorities responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 8:50 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the injured 34-year-old victim, who was quickly transported to a nearby hospital.
