On March 24, 2025, just before 11 p.m., police responded to a call of a person shot in the 1800 block of North Rural Street, near Brookside Park. Inside a residence, they found Gooch suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed her identity and ruled her death a homicide.
