On April 15, 2025, Jermaine Porter, a 24-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting on Chicago's West Side. The incident occurred in the 13300 block of South Avenue M. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported Porter to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The circumstances surrounding the shooting suggest that Porter was targeted, although the exact motive remains under investigation.
