Eric McMillen, a 52-year-old man from the South Chicago neighborhood, was fatally shot on the morning of April 30, 2025, in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side of Chicago. The incident occurred outside a home in the 11200 block of South Normal Avenue at approximately 7:15 a.m. McMillen was engaged in an argument with an individual he knew when the confrontation escalated, resulting in him being shot in the chest and abdomen.
Following the shooting, McMillen was transported to
Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 8:14 a.m. The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed his identity and cause of death. Authorities have classified the incident as a domestic dispute, indicating that the suspect was someone familiar to McMillen.
As of the latest reports, the shooter fled the scene heading east and remains at large. No arrests have been made, and the suspect has not been taken into custody. Wentworth Area detectives are actively investigating the case, seeking leads that could result in an arrest.
