Jeankerly Maria Linares Marin, a 27-year-old woman, was tragically killed in a shooting at a food truck in Miami-Dade on April 7, 2025. Marin, a mother of two, was at the food truck where she worked when a man approached her and another individual, Marlon López, and opened fire. The sudden act of violence left both victims fatally wounded. Marin’s family was devastated upon receiving the news, learning about her death hours after the incident.
Her cousin, Jelitza Piersante, described the heartbreaking moment when their grandmother called to inform them, leading to an outpouring of grief and disbelief.
Marin was deeply devoted to her children, a 3-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son, who were the center of her world. Her family emphasized how focused she was on raising them and providing for them. The suspect in the shooting, identified as Luis Montero Moncada, was later involved in a shootout with detectives near Flagami that same night. Moncada was killed in the exchange of gunfire, though authorities have not released further details regarding his motives or background. No law enforcement officers were injured during the confrontation.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken over the investigation into the incident. Marin’s family has since launched a fundraiser to help cover memorial expenses and support her children in the wake of her tragic passing. They are seeking assistance from the community to provide a proper farewell for Marin and to help her loved ones navigate the difficult aftermath of her untimely death.
