In the early hours of a Tuesday in Washington, D.C., the life of 19-year-old Khamani Hicks of Rockville, Maryland, was tragically cut short. On February 4, 2025, police responded to a call about an unconscious person in the 1300 block of Congress Street, Southeast, at approximately 8:33 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered the grim scene of a young man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the location, but despite their life-saving
efforts, Khamani Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was one of several fatal shootings that occurred in the city on the same day, contributing to a rise in homicides compared to the previous year. The male victim's death is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch.
As of now, the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing, and the Metropolitan Police Department has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death.
