Monica Islam, a 44-year-old woman from Eustis, Florida, was reported missing on May 2, 2025. She was last seen at a gas station on South Bay Street in Eustis, where she had accompanied her daughter, Rimi Islam, to work. Surveillance footage showed Monica Islam walking outside the store around 6:15 a.m., after which she was never seen alive again. Her daughter attempted to contact her multiple times, but her phone was turned off, which was highly unusual.

Later that day, Lake County Sheriff's deputies discovered a body on Scenic Hill Drive in Mount Dora, approximately seven miles from the gas station where Monica Islam was last seen. Authorities soon confirmed that the deceased was indeed Monica Islam. The medical examiner determined that she had died from a gunshot wound, and investigators ruled her death a homicide. Law enforcement officials stated that the killing was not a random act, suggesting that Monica Islam was specifically targeted.
