On the night of April 7, 2025, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on North Poe Street in Lake Elsinore, California. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Marcus Bryant, a 37-year-old male resident of Hemet, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical aid from first responders, Bryant succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators from the Riverside Sheriff’s Central
Homicide Unit took over the case, detaining multiple individuals at the residence for questioning. Following their inquiries, law enforcement arrested 39-year-old George Eddie Steven Thompson, a resident of Lake Elsinore. Thompson was charged with murder and a felony weapon enhancement and was subsequently booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing. Officials have urged anyone with relevant information to contact the Central Homicide Unit or the Lake Elsinore Station.
