In the early evening of May 8, 2025, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in the 800 block of East 22nd Street in Wilmington, Delaware. When police arrived at approximately 6:44 p.m., they discovered a chaotic scene with three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Among the victims was 21-year-old Jah'Mir Johnson. Critically injured, he was rushed to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Born on May 15, 2003, in Wilmington, Delaware, Jah'Mir was known as
a joker who loved to make others laugh and would often be silly. He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School where he played J.V. football. Described as a great big brother, he was a mentor to his younger brother and sister. He had a passion for singing, with Marvin Sapp's 'Never Would've Have Made It' being a favorite song he would sing all the time.
The shooting that claimed Jah'Mir's life also left a 19-year-old female and a 9-year-old female injured. Both were transported to the hospital in stable condition. The investigation into the triple shooting is ongoing, and as of now, authorities have not released any details about a possible suspect or motive for the attack.
