On the evening of Monday, January 27, 2025, a tragedy unfolded in the parking lot of Park Plaza Mall in Little Rock, Arkansas. Cynthia Gregory, a 47-year-old woman, was discovered suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders were called to the scene at 6000 West Markham Street around 6:11 p.m. Medics from Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services transported her to a local hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
Known to her friends as Cindy, she was a wife
and a mother to three children. She worked as a senior major gifts officer at Baptist Health and was also a well-regarded yoga instructor in her community. Those who knew her described her as a beautiful and genuine person, a devoted mother, and the best kind of friend one could have. Her death, which police later confirmed was the result of an attempted robbery, sent shockwaves of grief through the community that held her in high regard.
The Little Rock Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation. Detectives and the Crime Scene Search Unit began canvassing the area and speaking with witnesses. Their investigation led to a swift arrest. On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, police took 18-year-old Abdelrahmanahmed Sallam into custody. He has since been charged with capital murder in connection with Cynthia Gregory's death.
