In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Tucson, Arizona, the life of a young man was tragically cut short. Just before 11:45 p.m. on April 2, 2025, in the parking lot of a Burger King on the 7000 block of East Golf Links Road, 24-year-old Trevyiente Anthony Smith-Henry, a Black male, was shot. He was the manager of the restaurant.
Tucson Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of the shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr.
Smith-Henry unresponsive, having sustained gunshot trauma. The officers immediately began to render aid, performing CPR in an attempt to save his life. Members of the Tucson Fire Department arrived shortly after to provide assistance, but their combined efforts were in vain. Mr. Smith-Henry succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation by homicide detectives and crime scene technicians involved processing the parking lot for any evidence that could shed light on the circumstances of the shooting. Authorities canvassed the area, but no other injuries were reported. In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement had not identified a motive for the shooting, nor had they named any potential suspects. A reward was offered for information leading to an arrest. He was remembered as a devoted son, a loving brother, and a father to his daughters.
