In the early hours of a Friday morning in Tucson, Arizona, a dispute between two groups escalated into a tragedy that cut short the life of 24-year-old Harrison Weber. On April 22, 2022, near the bustling edge of the University of Arizona campus, an argument broke out, culminating in gunfire. Weber was fatally shot, and another individual was seriously wounded.
The incident prompted an immediate investigation by the Tucson Police Department.
Harrison Weber, a 2021 graduate of the University of Arizona's College of Applied Sciences and Technology, was pronounced dead at the scene. As detectives processed the evidence and interviewed witnesses, a suspect began to emerge from the chaos of the preceding events. Less than a week after the shooting, an arrest warrant was issued for Trevontea Tyron Howard-Brown, a 24-year-old man, on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
For nearly nine months, Howard-Brown remained a fugitive, eluding law enforcement. The search for him, which involved K-9 units and helicopters, extended beyond Arizona. In January 2023, U.S. Marshals tracked him to a house in Charles City, Iowa. After a brief standoff where he barricaded himself inside, Howard-Brown was taken into custody. He was held in Iowa on a one-million-dollar bond, awaiting extradition back to Tucson to face the charges related to the death of Harrison Weber.
