On the early morning of November 1, 2015, Jamar Fields, a 28-year-old African-American male from Omaha, Nebraska, was fatally shot during a Halloween event at the Slowdown nightclub, located near 14th and Cuming Streets. Fields, a father of two with a third child on the way, sustained gunshot wounds to his leg and torso. Despite being transported to Creighton Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries.
