In the late hours of a Saturday night in Troy, Alabama, what began as a response to a noise complaint at a large party quickly escalated into a homicide investigation. On May 3, 2025, just two hours before he would have turned 20 years old, Nyreesh Amari Smith, a young man, was shot and killed. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Dunn Circle, where a sizable gathering of 100 to 250 people had drawn the attention of local law enforcement.
