Leola Etta Bryant, a 51-year-old African American woman, was last seen in March 1974 at the Midway Bar on Reynold's Avenue in North Charleston, South Carolina. Her disappearance remained a mystery for decades until her remains were discovered in October 1977 by a worker clearing brush on Sawgrass Avenue in Goose Creek. The skeletal remains were collected and sent for examination, but at the time, authorities were unable to determine her identity or cause of death.
