In the late summer of 1999, the life of 28-year-old Jane Marie Chafton, a white female from Lawton, Oklahoma, came to a tragic and mysterious end. She was a mother and a sister who had once worked as an accountant before falling into a high-risk lifestyle that included substance abuse and sex work. Chafton was last seen on August 9, 1999, and had reportedly arranged for a taxi to pick her up from a Motel 6 for a trip to Duncan, a plan she later canceled, stating she had found another ride.
