Eureka Jackson, a 38-year-old African-American woman, was found deceased on November 6, 2008, inside an abandoned building at 34 E. 120th St. Her cause of death was determined to be strangulation. Authorities investigating the case linked her murder to a suspected serial killer, Michael Johnson, who was later charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder. Johnson, 24 at the time of his arrest, was identified after DNA evidence connected him to the deaths of three women, including Jackson.
