Tracy Melton, a 32-year-old woman, was last seen on May 6, 1998, in Stockton, California. Her disappearance remained a mystery for years until her remains were discovered near a highway in Stockton in 2003. However, it was not until April of the following year that forensic analysis confirmed the remains belonged to Melton. The delay in notifying her family about this identification led to significant frustration and grief.
