Jennie Gunness, a 7-month-old white female infant, died on April 6, 1902, in La Porte County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Peter Gunness and his first wife, Jennie Sophia Simpson. Peter had recently married Belle Gunness on April 1, 1902, and Jennie was under the care of her new stepmother at the time of her death. The cause of death was reported as a virus, but the circumstances surrounding her passing raised suspicions, especially given Belle Gunness's later notoriety as a serial killer. ...
