On a May day in 1944, a fire raged on the isolated farm of the Gein family in Plainfield, Wisconsin. Henry Gein, a 43-year-old White/Caucasian male, was out with his younger brother, Ed, burning away marsh vegetation. The flames, however, grew beyond their control, demanding the intervention of the local fire department.
